welcome
The Marina Academic Decathlon is a team of students from Marina High School who compete in the Academic Decathlon with other schools in ten subjects: Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Speech,
Mathematics, Social Science, Art, Music, Economics and Science. This year's team started meeting and studying in June. There were plenty of candidates, so by the begining of the school year we had our own competition, and the final team will be nine students, formed with these candidates.
when did it start?
Marina had a team on and off. The team was restarted in 1995 by Robert Grebel. When he left in 2003, Mr. Rick Boogar was kind enough to step in. He then passed the baton to Mr. Alex LaPointe, our current coach. He's doing an awesome job, and we're working to bring our trophy back home.
what's 937
The MAD team has won a total of 937 medals in the competition so far!!!! The team was a State Finalist in 1998, held at Cal-Poly at Pomona, we were County Champions in 2002, in 2003 and were champions again in 2004. We've won the Super Quiz trophy a couple of times. We're getting ready for next year!
