The MAD team welcomes you!

What is MAD? When was the team formed? What is 859?

The Marina Academic Decathlon is a team of students from Marina High School who compete in the Academic Decathlon with other schools in ten subjects: Essay, Interview, Language and Literature, Speech, Mathematics, Social Science, Art, Music, Economics and Science. This year's team started meeting and studying in June. There were plenty of candidates, so by the begining of the school year we had our own competition, and the final team will be nine students, formed with these candidates.

The team was started in 1995 by Robert Grebel. When he left in 2003, Mr. Rick Boogar was kind enough to step in. He then passed the baton to Mr. Alex LaPointe, our current coach. He's doing an awesome job, and we're working to bring our trophy back home.
