Start with a view of the ancient city, Dubrovnik, in Croatia, from the Grand Villa Argentina, the hotel I stayed at. The private Beach Club
is just below the hotel. I walked the city walls - almost 2 kilometers,
and saw some incredible views. From the wall you get so many perspectives
of what life must have been like. There is breathtaking beauty at every turn

. From the fort you have a better idea of the fortification of the city

. This city was once much like Wall Street in New York, the center of trade for Eastern Europe
. The "new" wall was completed a while ago
. Stopping for refreshment at a place called "Cold Drinks" I ran into a group of college kids on Semester-at-Sea. Some of them had killed enough brain cells to jump from the 100 foot rock face into the Adriatic below
. One of them was knocked out from a concussion, and was lucky to live. My favorite lunch spot
had offerings like this everyday.
A two day trip took me to Hvar. This view is from the Amphora Hotel. Life in Hvar revolves around boating
. The Palace Hotel
is where I stayed, it had beautiful views
. Note the date in this relief work.
. The winged lion reminded of Venice. Walking around Hvar

I was mesmerized by the beauty of the place. I even found a way that forced me to slow down and relax
. Nothing is fast except the time that passes. One of the solid bronze doors
reminded me of Zanzibar. From the port you can see the fort above
.
Back in Dubrovnik, I saw a religious processionwhere they bless the boats
. They carry a 13th century painting
in the procession. One of the five churches in town
was impressive.
My last day in Dubrovnik, sitting by the pool, the Adriatic got angry![]()
. Now even the furniture rests in peace at the bottom.
Definitely a place worth revisiting.
