Becoming An American Citizen

The Work Begins

Today I found out that all the work I did yesterday filling out the form in the computer was a waste of time. It doesn't save, it probably has a "lock" in it. That's okay, I'll gather all the info and then fill out and print the forms.

I took the pictures, gathered the documents and sent them today. Of course, I found that they give you more than one different address to send the papers - same POBox, different zip code. I'm sure it'll get there eventually. The gal who took my picture told me she sent her papers in and already had her fingerprints done. That's amazing, as soon as you tell people what you're doing you find more that have done the same.

Steve asked me yesterday why was I doing it. There are many reasons, but the main reason is that my life is here now. I don't see myself moving back to Brazil for any reason, not by myself anyway. I don't know, if we decide together to live there, then we will. But I like my life here, the way the system works and you don't have to guess whether today the police will be on your side or not, whether the next law will drastically change your financial situation. This is a wonderful country.
