VinExpo is a huge wine event held every other year in Bordeaux, France. Unfortunately, this year Steve went solo. One night in Paris (dinner at La Serre) then on to Bordeaux. He caught a flight from Bordeaux that same evening to Gironda (north of Barcelona) just to have dinner at El Bulli . Did I mention... It's all about the food?! He went with friends from Laurent Perrier Champagne plus Patrick Daul, Jim Allen, Joe Milo and Anthony Dias Blue from Bon Apetit. He informs us that El Bulli is considered to be the finest restaurant in the world right now... It better be after the travel time involved. Five hours and 42 courses later (here are some) we decided that we agree.
Checked into the hotel in Bordeaux at 5 am the next day. Then work the next day at the Expo, all day, and had dinner at Chateau Lafite Rothschild. The next day, more work and dinner at Chateau Mouton Rothschild (did I mention it's all about the food?). Next day work, then final final at Chateau Pontet Canet. Lots of work, chuckles and calories but all back in one piece.
